Prior to joining Vistria, Mr. Alphonse was a Principal at Sterling Partners, where he focused primarily on investments in education companies and served as a member of the investment committee. He has worked on the acquisition of and investments in Professional Career Development Institute, LLC; Infilaw Holding, LLC; Meritas, LLC; and Educate, Inc. /Educate Online (Sylvan Learning). He served previously as a director for Educate, Inc., and Educate Online. Prior to Sterling Partners, Mr. Alphonse worked at KnowledgeFirst, Thomas Weisel Partners and investment firms McCown, De Leeuw & Co and Kingdom Holdings. He also worked as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co.

Mr. Alphonse currently serves on the Board of Directors of Catapult Learning and MSI Information Services, and is a former Board member of Penn Foster Education Group. He serves as a Commissioner with Chicago’s Community Development Commission, and as a board member for College Possible. He is a former trustee for The Roxbury Latin School in Boston.

Mr. Alphonse received an A.B. from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from The Stanford Graduate School of Business.
